It’s been eight months since I post anything, and when I do it’s two years out of date. I guess I’m overdue a little explain-yourself, huh?

It wasn’t what I had planned for this month’s update, but here’s something: another chapter of that Zelda playthrough!
What I had planned was a “some games I played in 2012” article, only this time I’d also be covering books, movies, TV shows and whatever else of interest. It got a bit hideously long and half the stuff I didn’t write notes for, so most of the early entries amount to “I think it was okay, I guess?” Which admittedly isn’t that far off from my real reviews.
It might show up eventually, but it’s not even half-finished yet. I’ll see what happens! To tide you over, here’s the review I wrote for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which was shown on BBC1 around Christmas.

In a word: Charmless.

You don’t need to put cobwebs on the clothes pegs. You don’t need to put any on my jeans, either. You don’t — look, no webs on the washing line, alright? It’s a good job you’re doing, and you seem like a really efficient worker, but it’s wasted out here. They’re mighty fine webs, but I don’t think any bugs are going to be interested in my pants. We could probably make an arrangement where I make my pants a bug paradise, and you could…
Look, just get a hobby.
Love, Mark.

So, Christmas has come and gone, December’s coming to a close, the new year’s approaching, and I’ve been so much of a self-absorbed shithead that I’ve barely even noticed. Story of my life! In my defence, Jingle All The Way was not shown once on television, so what’s the point of caring? Instead they showed things like My Neighbour Totoro. Are they actually trying to bring some class to the festive season? Get outta town!
The annual get-together was pretty bog-standard, and I got two calendars and a box of Rolo. Hell yeah.

Playing catch up. Did I ever talk about the revamp of the Bomberman shrine? I’m tired and have a cold and barely remember. Either way, I’ve uploaded what I’ve finished of it, as a lot of the content has been kicking about for a few months now. There’s not much new! The revamp was mostly to ditch all that horrible Frontpage code, and so I can upload all the stuff I hadn’t before, like magazine scans and manuals and stuff. A lot of that stuff had only been posted on the Bomberman Board, but now you can access it from the site. Whoop.
Will the shrine see much updates in the future? Aheh. The best I can say is “I’ll see what happens.” You should know by now that anything I start goes hideously unfinished.
I haven’t checked the uploaded version extensively yet, but I didn’t encounter any problems viewing my offline files. If there’s any cock-ups, let me know.
Also, some music for the game music page. A lot of it’s been sitting around for months, too! You can tell which ones are leftovers from months ago by how long the song descriptions are.
You know you’re a miserable, directionless mess when completing another stage of Tetris Plus is the highlight of your day.
I watched the entirety of Saber Marionette J back in July – that’s three series, about 57 episodes in total. It had its ups and downs (some long, drawn-out, poorly-paced downs towards the end), but I quite enjoyed watching it. I enjoyed it so much that I’d made plans to cover it for Random Action Hour, and wrote up pages for the first four episodes… and then kind of lost the energy and motivation to keep it up. They’ve been kicking about for three months now, so I figure I might as well make them public. I wouldn’t count on seeing any more episodes in the foreseeable future, mind you.

Well, September was a bit of a tizzy. Harking up and down across the country to attend a course during the week and then being too exhausted during the weekend to do anything. That routine hasn’t exactly changed, it’s just I had the pleasure of getting a cold and spending the whole week in one place, which helped me gather my bearings, I guess.
I watched Dark Star. This is the first film I’ve watched since the start of September, and man, I didn’t realise how much I missed that little routine! (I think the last film I saw was Dragon Ball Evolution. It was a decent little romp. My dad described it as something to the effect of “Buckaroo Banzai on crack.”)
You know it’s a Ragey review when it wonders if it’s even worth summarising the movie’s plot.

I’m like half a month too late to offer a punctual response, but the blog’s up and running again. Flying Omelette tells me Dreamhost had been upgrading their servers, and that must’ve prompted some crummy coding in the WordPress database to screw up… we think. I’m still not entirely sure what happened, but it’s up again, so that’s as far as I’m concerned.
I really haven’t been up to anything exciting this month, and thus haven’t had anything worth saying. I may as well just play catch up with what I’ve watched recently.
