So, how about that F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu, huh? Its coverage finished on Random Action Hour way back in April, if you missed it! It got a hastily-made characters page and everything!
I got around six emails during that period about what people want to see on Random Action Hour, which was actually pretty nifty! It’s neat to see folks still expressing interest in the site, and I appreciate the interest, though covering F-Zero was exhausting enough; I forgot how time-consuming that stuff can be! There’s a couple of shows I’d like to cover on it sometime in the future, but I can’t imagine it’d be any time soon. I need a break.

And having essentially watched the series two and a half times by now, I need to get it off my chest: my big dumb opinions on F-Zero: The Legend of Falcon can be found beneath the cut!

You know you’re a miserable, directionless mess when completing another stage of Tetris Plus is the highlight of your day.

I watched the entirety of Saber Marionette J back in July – that’s three series, about 57 episodes in total. It had its ups and downs (some long, drawn-out, poorly-paced downs towards the end), but I quite enjoyed watching it. I enjoyed it so much that I’d made plans to cover it for Random Action Hour, and wrote up pages for the first four episodes… and then kind of lost the energy and motivation to keep it up. They’ve been kicking about for three months now, so I figure I might as well make them public. I wouldn’t count on seeing any more episodes in the foreseeable future, mind you.

Watched Bio Hunter. This was one of the many anime VHS tapes we had years and years ago (the batch of tapes that made my brother and I major fans of Ultimate Teacher and Cyber City Oedo 808, and also exposed us to the incredibly corny English dub of Laughing Target), but I’d never watched it properly until now. I caught the first scene when ripping it from VHS before I got rid of it, and it’s hardly something you forget – a chick and a dude are having sex, and then the woman gets the munchies, so her breasts turn into mouths and chew his arm off. It’s the very first scene you see, so you know it’s gonna leave an impact.

Would you believe me if said I actually finally had an update after so many months of being a completely lazy arse face? If so, would you believe me if I said it was a large, extravagant update that totally makes up for my multi-month absence? If so, ha! It’s just a Random Action Hour update. Yeah, even I wanted a bigger update, but it’s either churn one out now or wait another five years before I realise what a good work ethic is.

I have not been up to much excitement this week. Really about the only interesting things were the ways I totally wasted my time, and a couple of things I watched.

Watched Resident Evil: Degeneration. It’s a film full of slow-motion bullet tracking, stuff blowing up, needlessly dramatic emotional scenes and characters being unharmed after being punched across the room. Is it any surprise my dad considered it one of the best video game movie he’s seen so far?

Like any good Resident Evil story, my interpretation of it was like so: A load of convoluted balls.

Like Withnail & I, it’s been suggested to me a million times and I’ve turned it down continuously in favour of something else, and now I’ve finally decided to watch Unleashed, also known by the rather silly-if-contextually-appropriate Danny The Dog in some regions. I was very, very impressed.

I finished the first series of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumongle. The last time I commented on it I had only seen episodes 00 and 01 and thus did not have very much to say about it. Having watched fourteen episodes, what do I have to say now?

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers review + Haruhi first impressions

I watched the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers movie. About a decade ago my dad commented that he enjoyed it more than the Super Mario Bros. movie, and while I wouldn’t say I was livid with rage (my brother probably was!), I was quite shocked. I mean, how could a kiddy thing like Power Rangers top the misunderstood epic that was Super Mario Bros.? That film was a friggin’ monolith to me, nothing could top it. Covering it for Random Action Hour a few months ago did give me a serious wake up call about how screwy it is.
