It’s been a quiet month. I dedicated practically all of May into the grunt work for it, and since then it’s been a slow, tedious grind to fill out the rest of it, but the Puchi Carat shrine has been revamped. It’s one of those things I was really excited about working on, and now that it’s over, I’m struggling to remember what my aim actually was. I think my plan was to include just as much information as I possibly could, even stuff like the locations and the map and so on, but I ended up either not having much to work from, or lacking the patience to work with it, so I dropped a whole page and spread its content across other pages. Oh well. Let me know if you enjoy it! (I’ll be interested to hear if people think the design should be less pink, or even more pink)
Also, game music. It’s just stuff I left over from last time, I’m afraid.

So, uh, after ten months of being a totally lazy mofo (or more precisely, six months of putting it off and then four months trying to burn through it as quickly as possible), the Random Hoo Haas revamp is finished.

What updates have we got after such a long absence? Well, there’s a new music page, for starters, where I throw up MP3s of whatever video game music takes my fancy, as well as links to other music hosted on the various Random Hoo Haas sites. Also, a Wario’s Woods shrine! It mostly exists just so I can dump those manual scans and music downloads somewhere. Also, the Games I Own, Like & Hate section got a long needed update. There’s a whole bunch of new games and a small bunch of new reviews!
Also, hey, remember those blog entries from two years ago where I was translating the work of Otimusya, a Japanese video game humour site? Well, I’ve finally uploaded some of them! The page explains why I’ve been sitting on them for so long. The Balloon Fight page has a couple of lines I didn’t/couldn’t translate, but hopefully it shouldn’t be too distracting. Hopefully I can give the Final Fight one a clean-up and get it uploaded soon.

Site-wide revamp is uploaded and online. Most sections have been given an overhaul, some stuff has been tweaked, and some stuff has just been ported. New content includes Games I Own reviews, some new General Writings and a new shrine, and maybe other stuff. Who knows.

I haven’t had a chance to do any proper bug testing online, so if you let me know of any major glitches and errors, that’d be just dandy. I’m heading to bed now, so you’ll have to live with all the bugs and errors for the next ten hours; sorry! Expect a longer ramble on this in the morning.

Site progress: Kinda sorta nearly done! It’s mostly just a manner of tying everything together and fixing up the loose ends, though that’s probably going to be a bit gruelling. I’m hoping to have to done and uploaded by mid-June, but we’ll see what happens. I’m a mite concerned that after nearly a year of supposedly working on this revamp, there probably won’t be much in the way of new content besides some prettier layouts. We’ll see what happens.

I went to see X-Men: First Class a couple of days ago. I’ve come to forget a lot of the details, so excuse this horribly mangled rummage of my memory.

Well, things have been slow and awkward this month. Northern Ireland has been swamped with heavy rain and ferocious winds that’s kinda kept me indoors until yesterday, and life as a whole has been very meandering and sluggish. I get by, but it ain’t the most enjoyable of predicaments.

I’m getting increasingly concerned about how quickly this year is skimming me by. Are we really nearly halfway through? That’s not fair, mang!

Well, what is there for me to say? From the viewpoint of a productive mindset, I’ve done a lot of work on the perpetually-upcoming site revamp, and although slowly progressing, it’s coming along really nicely. I’m, uh, not sure if there’ll actually be much in the way of new content besides the directory rearranging, CSS design rampaging and so on, but it’ll be nice to get the stupid thing done. From the viewpoint of interesting blog entries… well, yeah, I have not been up to anything exciting.

Would you believe that Random Action Hour updated today? Really! And technically it’s the first step towards the Random Hoo Haas site revamp! Admittedly it’s the crappiest of the revamps because all I’ve done is rearrange the directories (linking to the ol’ “Cartoons/” directory will forward you to the new “rah/” index) and removed a lot of RQ87’s stuff. Yeah, that’s what you get really excited about. As of this writing there’s still a few things to finish uploading, but the real highlight of this update – for me, at least – is that it ties the online and offline files closer together.

If Random Hoo Haas were to violently cyber-splode, I wouldn’t be able to make a flawless replacement just by uploading my offline files, as there’s a fair few things changed or missing compared to the online one, and vice versa. As of this update, Random Action Hour is totally in sync with its offline files, and as mundane as that sounds, it’s a bit of a relief.

This update has meant that I’ve had to upload every single RAH file all over again – that’s over 400mb of stuff. Sorry for killing your bandwidth, FO!

Scarcely amusing anecdote – I was so concerned about the strain on the server of uploading all this stuff again that I was thinking of just getting my own server/domain/whatever so I wouldn’t be bothering anyone else. This is what happens when you’re comically non-confrontational.

It’s headlines like this that make me pay attention to the world around me. Thank you, Yahoo! News.

I wonder if I should ever bother with those “what have I been up to?” summaries when there’s a new entry after some absence, because lately it boils down to “bog all.” I’ve been playing Castlevania HD, Left 4 Dead, Pocket Bomberman, Doritos Crash Course, Panic Bomber and several other games. Yeah, but have I done anything productive? Well, er…

That reminds me, I did start work on two blog entries that didn’t go anywhere. I still have that unfinished Zebraman review sitting around (where I compare it to Jingle All The Way. It’ll all make sense when it’s published!) and I wrote a bit of a ramble on Pokémon Rumble, a strangely intriguing WiiWare game that’s probably just the way I want the series to be, if it weren’t for a number of letdowns and limitations (which I’ll probably write up as a General Writing sometime). I’m mostly spending my time redesigning and gathering resources for the Bomberman Shrine Place, which I hope will really expand the site in terms of gloriously nerdy information. I want it to be so nerdy that you start to feel embarrassed for me. If the redesigned Bomberman site doesn’t make you weep for the man who’s wasting his life researching obscure elements of the Bomberman mythos, then I’m doing it wrong.

Let me know if my attempt at hyping it up is working or not.

It’s funny how bad I am at planning things. I’ll totally have the site redesign finished to a reasonably functional degree by the end of the year, sure! And here I am, with the redesign still in its planning stages, and a bazillion unfinished projects littered around me.

For instance, this badge of a frighteningly disproportional Spider-Man. I don’t know what I planned to do with it, but I swear I planned something.

Here’s hoping next year will be a little more productive.

Ugh. Designing a new layout for the various bits of the site isn’t too bad, and I’d dare say it’s actually mildly entertaining. Porting old content into the new layout is an entirely joyless affair that makes me want to cry, though. Why did I think this was a good idea?

SITE UPDATES ARE POSTPONED FOR ANOTHER EIGHTEEN MONTHS

Nah, just kidding. Though it’s probably not far from the truth. It’ll probably be sixteen months.

As usual, I haven’t really been up to much, and what little I have done I’ve mostly forgotten about. I haven’t been watching many movies lately either, and what little I have watched I haven’t commented on, so let’s try and catch up!
