ONM Remembered – #09
“What do you call Nintendo’s crap robot which was designed for use with the NES?”
from Official Nintendo Magazine issue 95 (August 2000)
Around this era in the magazine’s history, if an issue didn’t end with a preview of next month’s contents, it would end with a big series of quizzes, sometimes with a prize up for grabs. I’ve no idea if you had to answer every single question on the page, or just The Big Question to be in for a chance of nabbing Perfect Dark.
Funnily enough, The Big Question is easier than some of those other ones – what on earth is that werewolf from, and why has it got a disturbing growth coming out of its head?
I’m pretty sure Duke Nukem was the one who said, “Why, it’s Tootie, young and small.”
Also, here’s some light-hearted flip answers for…
“What do you call the man who provided the voice for Mario in Super Mario 64?”
a) a bigot, fostering negative impressions of Italians
b) the man who turned Mario from “cool” to “as lame and irritating as Mickey Mouse”
c) Bob Hoskins
d) TRICK QUESTION! Like all non-gruff male cartoon characters or male cartoon children, the voice was done by a woman in her 30s.
You forgot to include e) All of the above: A racist dress-wearing Bob Hoskins with Mickey Mouse ears.
