I finished the first series of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumongle. The last time I commented on it I had only seen episodes 00 and 01 and thus did not have very much to say about it. Having watched fourteen episodes, what do I have to say now?

I wasn’t really expecting an awful lot from the Buffy episode The Puppet Show, but I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe reading at least three friggin’ Goosebumps books on the subject of killer dummies has saturated my interest in that matter, but this one has just the right dose of twists, turns and great lines to be thoroughly entertaining. Killer dummies are pretty passé unless done with a bit of imagination, and when the killer dummy is actually a demon hunter, I’d dare say that’s pretty radical! Like the hyena episode, it’s just full of amusing lines and silly situations, and I can’t help but love the exchange regarding the murder suspect, “check his locker and see if there’s anything there.” “Like a heart?” Good stuff.
Who is David Cameron?
Seriously. I mean, I know the name and I’m aware he’s a politician, but it seems he’s mentioned on every single news headline at the minute. Where’d the dude come from? I’ve kind of always known the name, but he seems to be grabbing every single Yahoo! News headline since the start of this year, and until March I was rather confused because they only referred to him just as Cameron, which naturally led me to think, “man, the guy who directed Titanic has been busy lately.”

I went with a bunch of chums to see Kick-Ass, and we left with wide grins upon our faces. I assume the “I saw Kick-Ass, it was kick ass!” joke has been done to death by now, huh?

When I’m mildly depressed (read: unable to be adequately productive), I tend to look back at things I did earlier in life and just think it over, and although it’s a pretty dumb thing to do (because when you’re wallowing in self-pity the best thing you want to do is do it even more), it does offer food for thought and a mildly different way to look on my current situation. For instance, one of the many things I am currently pissed about at this point in time is that I’m having difficulty just sitting down and writing some fiction.

I’ve been catching up with the Bomberman Board these past couple of days, finally starting to scan some books I received like a month ago and so on. I quite like the community and it’s nice to bring it a bit of life with my scans of Japanese materials, though it all kind of reminds me of how… unhappy I am with the Shrine Place.

I watched the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers movie. About a decade ago my dad commented that he enjoyed it more than the Super Mario Bros. movie, and while I wouldn’t say I was livid with rage (my brother probably was!), I was quite shocked. I mean, how could a kiddy thing like Power Rangers top the misunderstood epic that was Super Mario Bros.? That film was a friggin’ monolith to me, nothing could top it. Covering it for Random Action Hour a few months ago did give me a serious wake up call about how screwy it is.

Man, I miss my old blog entries! Remember the days when I could just have a totally impromptu rant about Mario Kart Wii and its artificial intelligence? That whole month is incredible. I bought a bag of candy solely so I could put them on the scanner and critique the loose theme it has going. That’s the kind of spontaneity I wish I still had, because with every passing day I get the uncomfortable sensation that I’m trapped in a routine. Depressing.
I finished Mega Man 10. I sure took my sweet time! I downloaded it over a week ago and didn’t get finishing it until today, whereas I’m pretty sure I finished Mega Man 9 fairly quickly.
