Bomberman Portable

gameplay

The goal of every stage is to defeat all enemies, then find the exit door which is hidden beneath a random soft block; you cannot exit until all enemies are defeated.
Every tenth stage is a boss battle against a larger, stronger foe. Defeating the boss will complete the world, and return you to the World Map.

Each world has a unique environmental gimmick; see Stages for details. You can choose which world to enter via the World Map, though you must play them in order to unlock access to the next one.
Before each stage is the Setup Screen, where you can choose what items to equip, save your progress, or return to the World Map.

In Stage 5 of every world is a Key item; you must collect one in every World to unlock access to the final world. The World Map will display a key icon if you have collected it.

There are 10 worlds with 10 stages in each, for 100 stages in total.

Item Panels

Items are not immediately activated upon collection, but are stored in your stockpile. By default, Bomberman begins with only one bomb and a blast radius of one tile. You can scroll through your stockpile using the L/R Buttons, and equip an item by pressing the Square Button; this can be done during gameplay, on the pre-level Setup Screen, and even while the game is paused.

Only the Bomb Up, Fire Up, and Speed Up persist between levels; all other items are lost upon completing a stage or losing a life, and some only function for a limited period of time; see Items for details. All equipped items are lost if Bomberman loses a life.
You can carry up to 99 of each item in your inventory.

timer / exit

You are given 3 minutes to complete each stage. If the timer reaches 0, play will continue, but a Pontan will spawn from the exit every 6 seconds. Bombing the exit at any time will also spawn a Pontan to pursue you.

Bonus Stage

Completing Stage 5 of a world (and Stage 9 if you are revisiting a completed world) will take you to a Bonus Stage, where the goal is to defeat all Pontans within 30 seconds. Bomberman is invincible for the duration, and defeating all enemies will spawn 14 to 15 items for you to collect. Once the timer reaches 0, the bonus stage ends.

lives

Bomberman begins with 2 lives. If Bomberman loses a life, he will lose all equipped items. Once all lives are lost (that is, dying when the HUD reads "0"), it's Game Over, though choosing to Continue results in no loss of items or progress.

saving & loading

You can choose one of 3 files to play the game, and can save your progress at any time on the pause menu or Setup Screen, resuming at the start of the last-played level or on the World Map. You cannot copy or delete data between files, you can only overwrite it.

memory addresses

Addresses are referenced from the Japanese version in PPSSPP v1.2.1-31.
The game relocates memory every time a stage is loaded, so pointing to static addresses is difficult.

0x08DF0804 stage
Normal Game 1-1 is decimal value 86. (1-4 is 89, 2-1 is 96, etc). Bonus Stages are at the end, starting at 186.
Classic Game is simply 01, 02, etc. Bonus Stages are at the end, starting at 51.
Trying to skip between Classic Game worlds causes the game to freeze; you'll want to skip to the second Bonus Stage and let it end naturally to load the next world.
