
The goal of every stage is to defeat all enemies, then find the exit door which is hidden beneath a random soft block; you cannot exit until all enemies are defeated. Bomberman begins with only one bomb and a blast radius of one tile, and only one power-up item is hidden in each stage.
You are given 3 minutes to complete each stage. If the timer reaches 0, play will continue, but all existing enemies will be removed and replaced by 10 Pontans.
After every five stages is a Bonus Level, wherein the goal is to destroy as many enemies as possible within 30 seconds. Bomberman is invincible for the duration, and enemies will continuously spawn (to a maximum of 10 at a time), encouraging reckless bomb usage. Once the timer reaches 0, the bonus stage ends and will continue to the next numbered stage.
If you bomb an item, the item will be destroyed, and it will spawn multiple enemies of a single type; enough enemies to fill the population to 10 (unless there are already 10 enemies, in which case no new enemies will spawn). Bombing the exit door will get the same results, and you cannot exit the stage until all enemies are defeated. What enemy type is spawned is determined by the item in that stage.
Bomberman begins with 2 lives. Lives are earned by collecting 1UPs, or every 10,000 points. Once all lives are lost, it's Game Over, though choosing to Continue results in no loss of items or progress.
You can choose one of 3 files to play the game on, and you can save your progress at any time on the pause menu or Setup Screen, resuming at the start of the last-played level or on the World Map. You cannot copy or delete data between files, you can only overwrite it.
Bonus Items award huge point bonuses, but require special specifications be met before they appear, spawning in a random location. Be aware that unlike the original NES game, Bonus Items can be destroyed with a bomb and spawn enemies just like any other item!

Walk over the exit door when no enemies have been defeated.
Points: 10,000
Stages: 7, 15, 23, 31, 39, 47 (multiples of 8+7)

Defeat every enemy. Then walk around the outer border of the stage. The item will spawn once all tiles on those rows have been walked upon; progress can be done non-consecutively, it is not reset by stepping out of those lanes.

Stages: 6, 8, 14, 16, 22, 24, 30, 32, 38, 40, 46, 48 (multiples of 8+6)

Destroy every soft block, but don't defeat any enemies.
Points: 30,000
Stages: 4, 5, 12, 13, 20, 21, 28, 29, 36, 37, 44, 45 (multiples of 8+4 / 8+5)

Walk around the outer border of the stage, but don't defeat any enemies.
Points: 500,000
Stages: 3, 11, 19, 27, 35, 43 (multiples of 8+3)

Defeat all enemies. Then destroy 16 soft blocks.
Points: 10,000,000
Stages: 2, 10, 18, 26, 34, 42, 50 (multiples of 8+2)

Detonate 248 bombs.
Points: 20,000,000
Stages: 1, 9, 17, 25, 33, 41, 49 (multiples of 8+1)
All stages have 50 soft blocks.
Stages come in various sizes: Stages marked (S) are 13x11,
(M) are 17x11,
(L) are 21x11,
(XL) are 25x11,
and (XXL) are 29x11.
Bombing an item or exit door will spawn enemies; the enemy type correlates to the item in that stage. The enemy/item correlation is the same as in the NES game, except for the 1UP, which spawns the [cube] enemy type.

Each stage can contain up to 10 enemies.
If more than one enemy are bombed by an explosion, each successive enemy's score value will be increased in the following order: 100, 200, 400, 800, and then repeating with an additional 0. (for example, the 1st Minvo will award 800 points, the 2nd 1000 points, the 3rd 2000 points, the 4th 4000 points, the 5th 8000 points) The multiplier caps at 80,000.

Ballom: Orange balloon. Moves slowly and aimlessly. 100 points.
Onil (O'Neal): Blue onion. Will turn towards Bomberman if it sees him on its X/Y-axis. 200 points.
Dall (Dull): Red cylinder. Moves aimlessly. 400 points.
Minvo: Orange circle. Moves fast. Will typically turn towards Bomberman if it sees him on its X/Y-axis, but not always. 800 points.
Kondoria (Chondria): Cyan squiggle. Moves slowly. Can move through soft blocks. Will turn towards Bomberman if within 2 tiles of him. 1000 points.
Ovapi: Pink octopus. Can move through soft blocks. Will turn towards Bomberman if within 2 tiles of him. 2000 points.
Parse: Yellow ball with ears. Will pursue Bomberman, but retreats upon touching a bomb. 4000 points.
[egg]: Brown spinning dome, its back half looking like the inside of a hard-boiled egg. Will typically turn towards Bomberman if it sees him on its X/Y-axis, but not always. 200 points.
[cyan]: Cyan Ballom. Moves aimlessly. Will typically turn towards Bomberman if it sees him on its X/Y-axis, but not always. 800 points. 1000 points.
