Gameplay details

The goal is to destroy all switches and/or enemies in the stage to open the exit door. Every seventh and eighth level will contain a boss battle - stage 7 against a member of the Five Dastardly Bombers, and stage 8 against its war machine. Defeating the war machine will allow you to progress to the next world.
There are 5 worlds with 8 levels in each.

You are given 4 minutes to finish each stage - if the timer is up, you will lose a life. Losing a life will force you to restart the stage from the beginning.
Bombing the exit door will spawn more enemies.

Bomb Up / ボムアップ (Extra Bomb)

Fire Up / ファイヤーアップ (Extra Fire Power)

Increases bomb blast radius by one tile.

Speed Up / (Accelerator)

Increases walking speed a little.

Remote Control /

Bombs can be detonated at any time with BUTTON. Is lost if Bomberman dies.

Bomb Pass / 爆弾通過 (Bomb Passer)

Allows Bomberman to walk through bombs.

Wall Pass / (Block Passer)

Allows Bomberman to walk through soft blocks.

Power Glove /

Bombs can be carried and thrown by pressing the A Button twice. The bomb's fuse is delayed until it is thrown.

Kick /

Walk into a bomb to kick it in that direction. Press the X Button to stop it.

Heart /

Allows Bomberman to survive one attack. Exclusive to Normal Game.

Full Fire / フルファイアー (Maximum Explosion)

Increases bomb blast radius to maximum range.

Power Bomb /

Penetration Bomb / 貫通爆弾 (Super Bomb)

Bomb blasts will penetrate through soft blocks.

Boyoyon Bomb / ボヨヨンボム (Slime Bomb)

Jelly bomb. Will bounce if kicked or thrown. Exclusive to Battle Game.

Apple / k

1600 points. Exclusive to Normal Game.

Skull / ドクロ

Exclusive to Battle Game. Any player who collects this is cursed with one of several unpleasant ailments. The curse can be spread to other players by touching them.

"Radically increases speed. Radically reduces speed. Lays bombs randomly. Disallows laying bombs. Makes BomberMan invisible. Increase speed radically and keeps laying bombs automatically. Allows only one minimum-range bomb to be laid at a time."
