Bomberman is the first robot created by Dr. Mitsumori; a robot of incredible power, but is programmed "only for the pursuit of goodness and justice." Unfortunately, the doctor's second robot, Black Bomberman, suffered a programming error that clearly omitted that part. A power-hungry maniac with aspirations for world domination, Black kidnapped Lisa (the doctor's only daughter) and holed itself up in the intimidating mechanical castle. Bomberman begins his long journey towards the castle to rescue the good doctor's daughter, and to put a stop to this malfunctioning misfit! |
Bomberman makes his debut on the PC Engine, and it's all looking very familiar. The ever-popular NES formula is used once again, but now expanded upon, hauling in new enemies, more levels, improved 16-bit graphics, and even boss battles. Also, the passwords aren't a million letters long and you can even save your progress. Now that's an improvement!
But the game is perhaps more notable for being the first home console instalment to have a multi-player Battle mode, with up to 5 players! (Bomber Boy was the first to have any multi-player) |
Bomberman was later included on the PC compilation Bomberman Collection.
This game is featured in the Bomberman Maniax guide book.
