An all-purpose space traveller and documentarian, the first (and possibly only?) specimen of an artificial species designed to explore the outer reaches.
Curious and easygoing, she's eager to do the job she was made for, even if she gets waylaid by idle notions or absent-mindedness.
Dot is an easygoing and down-to-earth Pjónemín; she's never in a hurry, and very much about taking life at her own pace. She's curious and eager to learn; she has a collection of books and video tapes to learn from, be it mere factoids or new skills and hobbies to enjoy in her off-time.
Being stationed far from civilisation, she doesn't see many people, so she's prone to daydreaming or getting lost in obsessions, though she's always happy to have company.
As possibly the only Pjónemín in the wild, Dot has not met any others of her kind, and only has the documentation from her manufacturer as reference for her capabilities and job description. She's proud of her role, and very content in her ill-defined exploration gig.
Whether through design imperfection or simply her appetite, Dot is very, very large, and quite unlike what was on the blueprints! Dot stands somewhere in the vicinity of 8ft tall, a good chunk taller than the 'standard' Pjónemín, and could very possibly be as wide as she is tall.
That said, her limbs are no bigger than usual (minus the padding), and her big puffy middle is simply what adds to her height -- the proportions of her anatomy are no different.
Her size is the source of some difficulty -- she's too buoyant and cumbersomely-shaped to make much headway in water, and often depends on service drones to access things she has trouble reaching.
She otherwise retains all the physical traits of her species, just as capable of digging, climbing, contorting and whatever else, only with a bigger frame to have to accommodate for.
Although a little befuddled by the fact it's not mentioned at all in the reference manual, Dot has no qualms with her size. It's a cozy cushion that protects her from harm and the elements, and whatever feats it hinders her from doing, she can rely on the service drones or facilities in her ship to look after her.
The Pjónemín are genderless, but Dot chooses to identify as female, her human handlers having likely made an impression on her. The jury's out whether she has breasts, or if her chest is just a puffy ring. Dot speaks with a lackadaisical London accent; think Hattie Hayridge if we're talking voice claims.
The Pjónemín (pronounced "pyoh-neh-meen") are a bio-engineered artificial species designed for the purposes of exploration -- typically regions too treacherous or inconvenient for humans or machinery to access.
The intent was for them to scout these regions, document their traits and possible usability, and assess their use -- whether it contains viable materials, is worthy of setting up outposts or facilities, or simply for terraforming.
They stand somewhere over 5ft tall, and their physiology is similar to ferrets, otters, or other Mustelidae: long and slender, with short limbs that make them adept at running, swimming, climbing, and digging.
They are capable of bipedal and quadrupedal movement, and their three-digit paws are adept at using tools. Also like ferrets, they're very flexible and can contort themselves into small compartments or tunnels -- you can cram a lot of 'em into a small space for easy transport!
Their heads are long and rectangular, featureless with very defined 'sides' -- the front of their 'snout' is practically flat and squared-off, while there's only a subtle arcing curve from the cranium to the 'nose'. They have no mouth or other extremities; their eyes are the only features.
The are two pairs of three 'tendrils' on the back of their heads, similar to the external gills on an axolotl, and are essentially their sensory repositories -- their nose, ears, etc. They are moveable and malleable; the middle 'tendril' is long and wispy, while the bottom is bulbous and teardrop-shaped. (it's possible they have filaments that may or may not be retractable or visible only under certain light -- whatever's easiest and optional to draw!)
By default, their tails are round and fluffy. When submerged, the tail smooths out into a more streamlined shape to aid in swimming.
The all-purpose 'uniform' they are given consists of a sleeveless two-tone top, a collared jacket, and zip-up leggings with boots. One can assume these are stretch-fit, insulated against the elements, probably have storage compartments, and other gubbins to make them halfway practical.
Pjónemín were not designed with sexual traits or characteristics in mind -- they're bio-engineered after all, and meant to be sold or licensed out! -- and as a result gender or sexual dimorphism is not a factor.
They are social creatures and keen on forming packs or imprinting on others, meaning their pack's culture can quickly become a melting pot of ideas and interests.
