Menu

Pictures from the final on the left, beta on the right.

After the story sequence, you're brought to the main menu. Some options have different functions from the final, but the menus between the beta and final look the same, except for the bottom of the screen being grey in the final, and Player and Pass Word swapped around in the beta.

The password screen acts like it should in the final; with the correct code of obscure characters, you'll be transported to wherever the code was assigned to. The beta's version, however, is a stage select disguised as a password screen! As you can see at the bottom, it shows what round you'll be teleported to. The first card chooses your level, the second is the area, and the other two cards seem to do jack.

The sound test is interesting, as both the beta and final have unique tracks! Of course, hearing these songs is awkward, since it's so slow and clumsy to go through, but yeah.

A Button restarts the track, B Button returns you to the menu, and C Button scrolls to the next song.

The Control section is the same between the two, although the beta has MAGIC in place of RUN. That means that whenever your character says "Alakazam!" and start wiggling their fingers, you have to press the MAGIC button instead of any button, and running is done by pressing and holding the ATTACK button. I honestly can't believe that they didn't change the names of the control types in the final. What's A TYPE doing with 2 TYPE, 3 TYPE, and 4 TYPE?

Gabriel says: WHY HELKLO RAGEY

The answer is: to keep with the "playing cards" theme of the rest of the menu (especially the Player and Pass Word sections), with the A(ce) as the lowest card.

That's what happens when the only card game you play is Cluedo.
