page 4, "The Story"
The dark island of Ever-Mist is permanently enshrouded in a deep, dreary fog. Many adventurers have traveled there in quest of the legendary Golden Statue of Bomberman, but none have returned...
The legend states, "He or she who gathers together the three celestial medals of power, which lie on the island of Ever-Mist, shall open the gates and gain access to the statue."
Learning this, Bomberman sets off on another great adventure!

The chamber is unlocked and light fills the screen as it opens.
If played on Very Easy or Easy, the game cuts to black at this point and tells you to try again on a harder setting.
Bomberman has finally found the Golden Bomberman statue!
Bomberman watches fireworks on the cliffside; if Pretty Bomber was fought as the final boss, she sits alongside him. Images of the island's guardians scroll by with the staff credits.
Dated October 1995, the usual sales pitch malarkey we've come to expect from Nintendo's official magazine. It seems to get its information from the Japanese version - the few enemies and locations named aren't the ones seen in the English release.
The Virtual Boy is meant to be a 3D machine and therefore is best-suited for 3D games. Panic Bomber is a decent 2D game that would have worked many times better on 2D hardware.
So why are they here together? Even if you set aside the fact that Panic Bomber takes zero advantage of Virtual Boy's 3D abilities, the game's lack of distinguishing colors makes playing this fast-paced puzzle game a tedious process at best.
This Tetris-ish game has all the addictive elements of the original portable phenomenon, but spending an extended amount of time with your face stuck in the Virtual Boy is simply not an option for most folks.
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Dated March 1996, a review that bemoans how ill-fitting the game is for the platform.
