A tribute to the series' history, it boasts a vast multi-player mode with many characters, stages and gimmicks. Elements from the Super Bomberman series are borrowed, namely all the playable characters (and Louies) from Super Bomberman 3 and 4.

In addition, a recreation of the original NES game is included as a single-player mode, with the option of playing with the new pre-rendered 3D graphics, or with the original three-colour graphics.

This game was later included on the PC compilation Bomberman Collection Volume 2.
