A mobile phone rendition of typical Bomberman gameplay: 30 stages of baddie-blasting, exit-finding gameplay in the single-player game, and a 4-player battle mode to play by yourself or with friends via online connectivity.
To my knowledge, this is the first of the mobile phone Bomberman games to see release in America and Europe. Not to be confused with Super Bomberman, by the way. They're spelled differently in Japanese! |
All of the gameplay data on this page has been sourced from the English version.
The object of the game is to defeat all the enemies and find the exit door hidden beneath a random soft block. Each stage contains one power-up item also hidden within a soft block.
You have 300 seconds to complete each stage; running out of time will restart the stage at the cost of a life.
There are 30 stages in total.
The goal is to eliminate all players to be the last man standing. Battles can be fought first to 1, 3 or 5 victories. The timer is set to 300 seconds, and a draw is declared if time runs out.
The only customizable options available are:
Stage: Standard (スタンダード), Snow (雪原), Japan (和室), Cake (ケーキ), Chess (チェス) and Space (宇宙空間).
The CPU opponent's item loadout (up to 2 Speed Ups, 2 Bomb Ups and 2 Fire Ups).
... and what I can only assume is their level of artificial intelligence: Soldier, Philosopher, Lawyer, Apprentice, Taxi driver, Miner, Hunter, and Fisherman.
Bombs, Fires and Speed Ups are retained until the end of the game; all other items are lost once you lose a life.

Ballom: Red balloon. Slow speed. Only changes direction upon hitting an obstacle..
Onil: Blue onion with feet. Slow speed. Changes direction at every second junction.
Kondoria: Blue squiggle. Slow speed. Changes direction at every junction. Can pass through soft blocks.
Dall: Purple barrel. Medium speed. Only changes direction upon hitting an obstacle.
Minvo: White coin. Medium speed. Only changes direction upon hitting an obstacle.
Ovapi: Pink octopus. Fast speed. Changes direction at every junction. Can pass through soft blocks.
Pass: Orange bear head. Fast speed. Will follow Bomberman to within 2 tiles of him; will not advance further unless Bomberman moves away. Otherwise only changes direction upon hitting an obstacle.
Pontan: Yellow spinning coin. Medium speed. Changes direction at every second junction. Can pass through soft blocks.
(as far as I know, an enemy's score value seems to increase throughout the game - Pass begins at 900 points, but is worth 1000 points by Round 25. Still need to look into this!)
The original page for the game, with basic info and item details. There were variations for all the phone releases: EZweb, i-Mode, EMOBILE and Yahoo Mobile, though they're all largely the same. This backup is of the Willcom version.
There would be an abbreviated version of the old page here if the site hadn't gone belly-up since then. You're not missing much.
