Number #14 in Keibunsha's Big Encylopedia series. This book is a strange hodge-podge of shilling the then-upcoming Bomberman '94, a few pages of series retrospective, and hints and tips covering the following games:
Sensible game coverage is featured alongside fun stuff like quizzes, activity pages, 4-koma comics and other silly extras, including a mock contest to decide who has the honour of becoming Bomberman's girlfriend (with some unfortunate 'jokes' about okama, a gay/drag queen stereotype).
Perhaps wisely, the subsequent encyclopedia books were handled by a different staff at Shogakukan, who offered far more game information instead of silly gags.
A bite-sized series retrospective of the console and handheld games in the series so far (the arcade and computer games aren't acknowledged), offering a paragraph for the story, battle game and general sum-up of each instalment. Also features a gallery highlighting stages from each game, as well as Bomberman's various death and stage-exiting animations.
A tabloid-esque account on the rivalry between White Bomber and Black Bomber, giving them silly backstories for the sake of terrible jokes. "I worked on a construction site with a real nasty boss," White says, next to a screenshot of Bigaron trying to squash him with a hammer, for instance.
Spans pages 137 to 142. A preview of Bomberman '94 working off the Special Edition early release, highlighting the various Louies and changes from '93's Battle Game. A giveaway is held on page 188; anyone who sends in an answered questionnaire (on page 192) could be one of the randomly-chosen five people to win a copy of Bomberman '94.
Two-page spreads found on pages 52, 70, 82, 96, 108, 120 and 132.
Various silly ideas for bomb-themed enemies and contraptions.
Two-page spreads found on pages 54, 72, 84, 98, 110, 122 and 134.
A variety of potential joke power-up items.
Dotted around on pages 56, 74, 86, 100, 112, 124, 136, 147 and 161.
4-koma comics based on Super Bomberman.
Spread across pages 143, 154~156 and 176~177. A bizarre comedy segment introduced under the pretense that if Bomberman is out saving the world 24/7, surely he deserves someone to come home to. Hosted by two robots who present eligible bachelorettes while asking themselves if they set any criteria for applying first.
All three contestants are declared the winner, and celebrate by glomping Bomberman.
