Crisis! The Day of the Downfall of Humanity

With the first phase of their plan to conquer Earth eventually ending in failure, Black Zarak has put into motion the second phase straight away and hiding behind the moon, a new weapon is being constructed by a large team of mostly identical Decepticons, who then see that Black Zarak is also arriving from Earth to the weapon.

At the Decepticon base, Giga and Mega are shocked when Devil Z reveals his new plan to them: the Decepticon's next move is to completely annihilate all human life on the Earth and then when those worthless creatures are gone, a new Decepticon kingdom shall be built out of the ashes. Neither Giga or Mega think that such drastic measures are needed but Devil Z remains firm and then says that they are to go into outer space soon.

As the Decepticons depart, they try to sneak past any Autobots who may be on patrol but they cannot avoid Grand Maximus, who sees them and by looking at the direction they are doing, they seem to be slowly heading out of the Earth's atmosphere. He informs Ginrai about this and whilst he has no idea about what the Decepticons could be up to, Ginrai decides that they must also go out into space.

The Decepticons are already in space though, and the Headmaster Jrs have also been bought along although even they haven't been told what their new plan is. As they get closer to the moon they don't see anything until they get behind it where Black Zarak is along with the new weapon that is still being worked on by robots called, as Mega says, Guardminders.

The Autobot Godmasters and Headmaster Jrs load up their Transtectors into Grand Maximus who then takes off along with God Ginrai as they all head out into space, but they can only hope in finding a clue about what the Decepticons could be doing. Grand picks up strong magnetic radiation signals on his sensors and sees that they are coming from behind the moon so they all head to that point.

As they see the Decepticon machine and wonder what it could be, Giga, Mega, Hydra and Buster head out to attack them all and God Ginrai tells Grand to take the others towards the machine and destroy it as he deals with the Decepticons. As a new battle starts, the Guardminder robots have completed work on the weapon and turn their attention to the approaching Autobots.

The leader Guardminder, who looks like any of the others but with yellow parts rather than grey, tells the others to get ready and attack. Lightfoot, Ranger and Road King each don rockets packs and head out into space to fight these new Decepticons as the Headmaster Jrs wait on Grand to help him attack. Whilst the Guardminders are easily destroyed there are many of them in number.

Another group of Guardminders are waiting at the new weapon and show that they have transformation modes, changing to mobile gun turrets and with their combined fire power they keep the Autobots away from the machine. Devil Z, who is still on Earth, is watching the battle and grows tired of the Autobots trying to ruin everything, so he tells Black Zarak that they are accelerating their schedule and tells him to test the new weapon.

After a few seconds of charging up, two giant beams are shot at the Earth and whilst they do not quite hit the planet itself they do hit the stratosphere and this causes many disasters to happen across the planet as the ice caps melt more rapidly and other hazards. A team of scientists get on the case and find out that the ozone layer is being eroded, meaning that these natural disasters will be happening more frequently.

Lightfoot's group combine their Chokon energy and use it to try and destroy the Decepticon weapon but do not have any success and have to fall back when more Guardminders attack them. With the test being a success Devil Z tells Black Zarak to increase the power output by 200% so this time, the entire world will be destroyed with the next shot. As the Autobots see that the weapon is about to fire again, God Ginrai says he will destroy it and leaves Grand deal with Overlord.

As he avoids the lasers being fired at him, Ginrai uses his Chokon power to make himself faster and heads straight towards one of the weapon's cannons, flying inside of it just before it fires and releasing his energy inside before flying out. This results in the weapon losing all of it's power and soon, it is rocked by several explosions.

As the whole thing is about to go up, one explosion sends Black Zarak into space, and Overlord tells Hydra and Buster to follow him as they retreat along with the remaining Guardminders. As they depart, the Decepticon's greatest plan so far has failed and the weapon they have created is soon destroyed.

But before it completely blows up, one of the cannons fires one last shot which heads straight towards Maximus and hits the ship, sending him along with the Autobot Headmaster Jrs back towards the Earth.

With the ship now out of control, Grand tells them that one of the energy converters has been damaged and if they don't do something about it soon, they'll all die when they get burned up in re-entering the Earth's atmosphere! Not wanting to go out like that, Shūta grabs the last rocket pack and flies under the ship, and quickly repairs the damaged part. This saves the ship but as it's engines start up again Shūta falls off it and heads to his doom.

But then God Ginrai saves him and says that he did a good job as they both head back into space to the other Autobots to see that the damage to the Earth has been minimal and with time, the o-zone layer will repair itself. Under the command of Ginrai, the Autobots have won a major battle today, but with Devil Z still alive this will not be the end of the Decepticon's attacks.

Right at the end of the episode, Grand Maximus' smaller robot mode can be seen for the only time in the entire series.

The Guardminder robots actually came with either the Scorponok or Black Zarak toy - the grey ones came with the Scorponok toy (they were never seen in The Headmasters series) and the yellow one came with the Black Zarak toy, although the toy version was gold, not yellow, and could break easily. In the US the grey version is known as Fasttrack.
