Head on, Fortress Maximus!

The Autobot Headmasters are out on space patrol again but things are pretty boring with no sign of the Decepticons. Chromedome moans about how dull it is and suggests that they go to Charr and attack Zarak head on since Galvatron is missing. The others agree with Chromedome's suggestion but Fortress says they shouldn't be so hot blooded and they they will destroy the Decepticons eventually.

On Earth the narrator informs us that something terrible is about to happen. And we are taken to San Francisco where a gigantic man-eating plant bursts out a building rather randomly and tries to eat the people down below, although they get away and have the police sent in who arrive in cars and helicopters and start to shoot at the plant.

News of the plant reaches Autobot City and Ultra Magnus sends out the Aerialbots, Technobots and Trainbots to destroy it whilst saving as many civilians as they can. The three teams head to San Francisco and start to fight the plant, with the Technobots saving people and the Aerialbots fighting the plant guns blazing. The Trainbots arrive, but they see...

...Bruticus and some of the other Decepticons. The Trainbots form into Raiden and has a fight with Bruticus, each of them armed with a lightsabre for some reason, whilst the other Autobots attack the plant with he help of the police. Ultra Magnus is watching what is going on and decides to contact the Autobot Headmasters for further assistance. Informing them of the plant, the Fortress and the others head for Earth.

Meanwhile on Charr Zarak is laughing to himself and is even more happy when Soundblaster reports to him that the Autobot Headmasters are heading to Earth. Zarak says that everything is going to plan, as once again they've managed to get the Autobots to head to Earth and away from Decepticon activity.

Back on Fortress' ship the Autobots find out about this plant and where it came from. They then discuss that it was obviously the Decepticons who had it put on Earth, although they wonder why it was put in San Francisco instead of somewhere more harmful to Autobots such as Autobot City or the Athenia base. But with no time to go into these thoughts Fortress has the ship go at full speed to Earth.

On Athenia Daniel tells his mother that he's going to check on the seeds he planted earlier on, which he'd bought back from Earth. They haven't grown though and Wheelie appears just to moan about how gardening is for old people but then suddenly a man-eater plant pops out. Wheelie tries to kill it but it throws him off whilst Daniel notices that the plant looks nothing like the one on the seed packet, and he and Wheelie head back inside the base.

Back in San Francisco the Autobot attack on the plant has ceased due to all the Autobots now fighting the Decepticons. The Autobot Headmasters arrive on the scene and see that all the humans have now been evacuated, so they try to attack the plant but are all thrown off.

The Decepticon Headmasters appear and laugh at the Autobots, saying that they will never be able to destroy this plant. Chromedome questions this but the plant then grows even larger in size and destroys the building it grew in, revealing that it has 2 huge legs and starts to run around the city, forcing the Autobot Headmasters to move out of it's way.

On Athenia again Daniel shows his father the plant and how it's completely different to the one shown on the seed packet, although Spike notices how this different plant isn't actually doing anything at the moment. But Daniel and Wheelie then have the rather stupid idea of throwing rocks at the plant which pisses it off and it tries to bite a chunk out of Daniel, but Spike moves him out of the way just in time, and he takes Daniel and Wheelie back inside the base.

Inside the base Arcee researches the plant and explains to Spike and the others that it is a man eater. Spike says that the Decepticons must have been the ones who switched the seeds around and made sure that Daniel got them. Before they can discuss their next move Daniel's plant has grown into a much larger monster and starts to batter the walls of the base.

Fortress is informed about how there is now a plant monster on Athenia, but he knows that he can't do anything about it until they find the weak point of the one on Earth. But then things get worse as the Earth plant monster attacks Fortress' ship, disrupting the communication to Athenia.

Zarak watches the carnage through a viewsceen on Charr and is delighted that the plant is growing larger and larger and will soon destroy Fortress. The plant starts to whack the ship into the ground, but inside Fortress knows that if he doesn't do something fast he'll get killed and he decides that it's time to use something that nobody has ever seen before. He grabs a weapon called the "Master Sword"...

...and uses the energy he has to remove it, thus starting one of the longest ever transformation sequences seen since Unicron transformed in the movie. The ship pulses with energy which forces the plant to release it's grip on it. The ship then moves into outer space and Fortress gives the command to transform into "big mode"...

...and his ship transforms into the body whilst Fortress himself transforms into the head. Attaching to the body, Fortress then gains a larger Master Sword and is all ready to attack.

Landing back in San Francisco, the Decepticons decide now would be a good time to run away and they do so. Meanwhile the Autobots watch in amazement, including Chromedome and the other Autobot Headmasters - they had no idea whatsoever that Fortress was capable of merging with his ship. Fortress destroys the plant by cutting it up with the Master Sword, and that's the end of that. Fortress tells everyone that they must head back to Athenia. Zarak is still watching and says that he will still be able to destroy Fortress when his ultimate weapon is completed.

On Athenia the other monster plant suddenly explodes and dies. Spike reports this to Fortress, and the two guess that when the one on Earth was killed, it must have set off a chain reaction somehow which killed the other one. Daniel then says he's sorry for brining the monster plant to Athenia but Fortress says that it is not his fault and that he is happy everyone on Athenia is safe. The narrator ends the episode by saying that even though the Autobots have a new weapon, they must be cautious of whatever it is Zarak is building.

This is the only episode where Bruticus and Raiden have lightsabres.

Fortress can only transform with his ship when he has enough energy. This causes some problems in later episodes as you might expect.

The transformation sequence shown when Fortress merges with his ship is re-used over and over again throughout the rest of the series for whenever the transformation takes place.
