Unseen Objects

Big cheers to Mr_Beacon00 (信标先生) for working out a way to see these! His code replaces specific objects with whatever object ID is assigned. To see these for yourself, it requires the usage of Cheat Engine 6.83, DeSmuME 0.9.11, and this .CT address table; there are two files for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of DeSmuME.

To use:

If there are numbers under the Values column, success!
If not, double-click the Address of the cheats and confirm that the .EXE file under Pointer matches the .EXE at the top of Cheat Engine's window. If the Address is "DeSmuME.EXE" but the window says "DeSmuME 0.9.11.EXE", you'll have to add that "0.9.11" to it!

The cheat table allows for three objects to be replaced: the first signpost and first prisoner of Mission 4's second screen (4:2), or the prisoner before the second ceiling-mounted plant in Mission 4's third screen (4:3).
"Obj ID" is the core object, while "Obj Sub ID A", "B", etc., are modifiers that vary from object to object; some will change enemy behaviour, some determine what objects crates and prisoners are holding, movement speed, direction, and other properties.

The object ID values will reset to their original state upon entering another screen, and reloading a save state will also reload its value. To change values, you must use the level select and reload the stage every time.

A rotary drill/screw/something-or-other that moves forward. If it catches the player, it swallows them and spits them out its rear as canned food. Cheers to Mr_Beacon00 for the discovery, who also has recorded footage of its behaviour in action.

A massive screen-filling stone wall. It cannot be interacted with or destroyed; it's possible it was meant to raise to open a passageway. A wall with the same insignia is seen as a backdrop in Mission 5's Mars People path in Metal Slug XX, repurposed from the unused 5:8. Cheers to Ernesto Aguirre for the discovery.
