Are you the one I'm to fight in this tournament? It's a pleasure to make
Kotestu: This could be a problem....
Lewysia: Really? Whatever do you mean?
Kotetsu: I'm really not one who picks fights with women and children...
Lewysia: Oh my...that is a problem....what should we do?
Lewysia: Oh! I know! U--m....
Lewysia: You there...um, would you like to be my opponent? Ohohohoho....
(Translator's note: She's trying (and failing) to sound more.... rough? Though I guess this comes through even if you don't speak a lick of Japanese.)
Kotetsu: There's no need to try that hard....miss....
Kotetsu: I used the back of my blade. Please forgive me.
Lewysia: I'm not angry....but what do you mean 'the back of your blade'?
Kotetsu: Huh? Oh um... It's not using the pointed end of your blade during battle, and avoiding to injure the opponent too harshly, well.... I guess to put it succinctly.... it's holding back.
Lewysia: Ah! So that's what it is! I learn something new all of the time!.... though during our battle you didn't use your blade at all...or so I thought?
Kotetsu: I know it's a strange way to apply it, there's no need to think of it that deeply!
Kotetsu: So my next opponent is the Golem Bomber? This is an opponent I can't
hold back against!
Golem: Gah? Gozaru?
(Translator's note: I was afraid of this....okay....Kotetsu ends his sentences with 'Gozaru'. It's a polite (and very very old) way of speaking, and as such has no real English equivalent. If you watched Kenshin before that's where is 'That it is' came from. Or if you watch Gintama now it's where 'I daresay' comes from. If it causes a big problem later, I'll just add 'I daresay' to Kotetsu's sentences later...)
Kotetsu: I Kotetsu will fight you with my full strength!
Kotetsu: Why are you so angry?
Golem: I am not a gozaru.....are you...making..fun...of me?
Kotetsu: I'm not making light of you at all!
Golem: You said gozaru...again! I am angry! I will defeat you....
Kotetsu: That was close! Though, why were you so angry?
Golem: Don't say 'gozaru' to me...
Kotetsu: Kosaru? I would never say such a thing to you! You seem to have misunderstood me...
(Translator's note: Bleh. Gozaru sounds like Kosaru which is 'little monkey.')
Golem: Gah! You said 'gozaru' again...
Kotetsu: You're too persistent! I never said kosaru!
Kotetsu: What is this, my next opponent is a little monkey? I'd rather not bully
animals....It is uncouth.
(Translator's note: Listen to Kotetsu, see how Kosaru (little monkey) sounds like how he ends his sentences (gozaru)?)
Puipui: Uki? (What?)
Kotetsu: Now, this is not the place for you. You must return to the mountains at once.
Puipui: Ukki! Ukki! (You're making me mad!)
Kotetsu: What's this? Did I say something to upset you?
Kotetsu: O--Oh no...I went a little too rough on him....Are you okay?
Puipui: Kyuuu (I'm tired....)
Kotetsu: I didn't mean to hurt you little monkey, but it would have been much worse if you had entered a village of people....so in the end everything worked out.
Radibom: Hyahahahah!! Paraliraparalira!!
Pump: Kekeke!! Hand over your soul! Kekekeke!
Kotetsu: I must calm my mind, or else I cannot claim victory! If my mind is in a mess, the warmth will never reach me.
Radibom: Hyahahahahah-! Paraliraparaliraparalira!
Pump: Kekeke! Hand over your soul! Give your soul to me! Kekeke!
Kotetsu: Stop that at once-! Leave me alone!
Kotetsu: Behold! I have succeeded even in this below zero climate!
Pump: You get all excited, but it's not over with yet! Kekekeke!
Radibom: Hyahahaha! If you think it's hot now, I'll show you real heat! I'll burn you up! Hyahahahah!!
Kotetsu: S-Silence! Just when I had become completely calm too!!
Hahahaha, to have come to me means your luck has run out! I will destroy all
truth and justice in this world!
Kotetsu: You there! You won't become taller if you continue your evil ways. Nothing good can come of evil!
Baguro: Shut your mouth! Don't you dare lecture me!
Kotetsu: I'm not trying to lecture you! It's just that I think a young boy like yourself shouldn't choose the path of evil.
Baguro: Yo--You bastard! Quit treating me like a child!!
Kotetsu: I have defeated you. Now as promised you must take my advice.
Baguro: Hmph! I didn't hear a thing you said! More like, when did I promise you anything?
Kotetsu: You mustn't talk that way until you become older.
Baguro: Shut it!! Didn't I tell you to stop treating me like a child?!
Shirobom! Let me show you the results of my training!
Shiro: All right! I'm ready for it!
Kotetsu: There's no way I'm going to stave my blade for you!
Shiro: Of course not! I wouldn't think of it any other way!
Kotetsu: Of course...it wouldn't hurt if you were to...lighten up just a little...?
Shiro: What are you talking about? Of course I've got to fight with my full strength, right?
Kotetsu: Yes!! I managed to defeat Shirobom!
Shiro: Geez! And I was so close, too! Oh well, I'll just have to get stronger, and challenge you again!
Kotetsu: Anytime you wish! Until that time, I'll be training even harder!
Shiro: I won't lose next time!
Kotetsu: Of course, neither will I!
Master! I will give it my all! Let us duel!
Honey: Hold it! Do you think that your master will really just hand over a victory to you?
Kotetsu: No, but it wouldn't be any good unless I can test my skills against my master!
Honey: Just saying whatever you want again, stone head!? Are you even listening to me?
Kotetsu: No matter what you say, a duel is a duel! Now let us begin!
Kotetsu: I won....I actually beat my master....!
Kotetsu: I want to see what master's pistol is like....maybe even touch it...
Honey: How many times have I told you not to touch my gun-! I'll beat you down!!
Kotetsu: Be gentle with me pleaaaaaaaaaase!!
Weeelcome! Big sister loves seeing cuties like you. ♥
Kotetsu: Well---uh....I can't do something like that when I'm still training underneath my master....
Deral: Ooh? So what are you getting at?
Kotetsu: Uh...um...that's, er....well, I'm saying...
Deral: Oh my! Just what kind of dirty thoughts are in that head of yours? ♥ I was only speaking of doing battle! I had a feeling but now I'm sure! You're a perverted weasel! Ho-Hohohoho!!
Kotetsu: Grrrr!! You've angered me now! I won't forgive you for that!
Father, this is the first letter I've written since I left home. In order to see
how much I have grown since I started training I decided to enter the
tournament. And now I stand as the victor. I know that the road before me is the
correct one... and I am satisfied with my progress. From here on in I will
continue training under my master. I hope you will be looking forward to how
much stronger I have become upon my return. Until then... take care.
Honey: We're going shopping, Kotetsu! Your training is not to drop a single bag!
Kotetsu: PS: ....though there are times that I wonder if I really am on the right path...
