Seriously awesome?

Father roped me into watching A Serious Man. I sat through it to the end, and was able to wriggle my way out of stating what I thought by scoring it an interrobang out of ten, sending him rummaging through dictionaries to identify the word. It’s an interesting film. I will wholeheartedly give it that. […]

I’m all alone (more or less)

Watched Aliens. I’d caught the final half hour of it while on holiday about five or six years ago, but otherwise can’t remember much about it. I know James Cameron did the directing and writing this time around, and I was curious to see how it would impact upon the style and setting. I still […]

Ash is a goddamn robot!

I watched Alien five days ago. Yeah, I’m really dropping the ball on punctual blog entries these days. Mind you, what is there to say that more professional, more qualified and more verbose people haven’t already said? It’s insanely atmospheric and lonely, and I love it. The first hour very much reminded me of Life […]

My curly moustache is in the making

I got vouchers for Xtravision around Christmas, and thought I’d be worthwhile actually making use of them, preferably to try other games that I’m interested in but unsure of buying, but hey, trying out movies I wouldn’t bother buying can’t hurt either. … can it? We watched Outcast. I didn’t even read the blurb in […]

You can take the panda out of the jungle…

It’s headlines like this that make me pay attention to the world around me. Thank you, Yahoo! News. I wonder if I should ever bother with those “what have I been up to?” summaries when there’s a new entry after some absence, because lately it boils down to “bog all.” I’ve been playing Castlevania HD, […]

It’s hilarious at how terrible my productivity is. It’s one thing that I’m struggling to work on redesigning the site, but I can barely even work on anything else, and now I can barely even write a blog entry without stumbling over myself. I’ve been trying to compose my thoughts on Zebraman for nearly two […]

Terror is coming to your home (for a sewage party)

Watched Walking The Dead (not to be confused The Walking Dead; this is the one) It was not very impressive. I wasn’t really in a mood to watch a film to begin with so that might be the reasoning behind my very surly nature throughout it, but it just felt like a slasher-movie-by-numbers. A journalist […]

I like things!* I received two packages in the mail today. One was Alleyway for the Game Boy, a game I already have on at least two multi-cartridges and isn’t anything exciting, but I bought it in hopes of the manual expanding upon the rather ridiculous story cooked up by the blurb on the back […]

Watched Ultraviolet. In a way it was a lot like your typical anime – an incredible attention-grabbing first twenty minutes, and then the rest of it struggles to compare with the expectations, leaving the viewer with an incomprehensible plot and cookie cutter action scenes. At least there’s Milla Jovovich, right?

Braindead headbanging meatpuppets!

Who’s up for an encore of my “fuck colds” charade? I watched I Am Legend last night, though watching it was an amusing series of minor setbacks. It was being shown on ITV, but I thought, forget ads, let’s just watch it on DVD! The DVD wasn’t bad at first, but the sound would pop […]

Christmas isn’t Christmas without “PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN”

A box of Ferrero Rocher and a Wallace & Gromit calendar. Y’know, this is probably the one year where I could’ve done with a pen or some underpants instead. I’ve got a serious lack of both. (yes, you needed to know that) So, yeah, Christmas! I haven’t seen Jingle All The Way on TV, unfortunately, […]

Aw, you’re all heart, sonny.

Given my status as a rampant Nintendo fanboy, you’d think I’d have talked about Donkey Kong Country Returns by now, right? I haven’t even so much as mentioned it since the time it was shown at E3, and the game’s been out, what, over two weeks now in the UK? Well, truth is, I only […]

There’s no such thing as a free panda

Ugh. Designing a new layout for the various bits of the site isn’t too bad, and I’d dare say it’s actually mildly entertaining. Porting old content into the new layout is an entirely joyless affair that makes me want to cry, though. Why did I think this was a good idea? SITE UPDATES ARE POSTPONED […]

The Redeadening of the Undeaded: Super Dead

This was originally just going to be a reply to Greybob‘s comment on the previous entry, but it kind of spiralled out of control into an outrageously long ramble on everything tangentially related to what he said. And then I thought, well, why waste it in the comments box? Who even looks at those things, […]

“And you’re just a fuckin’ cow.” “A fuckin’ cow. That can fuckin’ talk.”

Was roped into watching Shrooms. Okay, I exaggerate, my dad said he was keen on watching it and I didn’t really argue. It’s been a while since we’ve sat down and watched a film, and what better movie to get us back into the routine than a slasher flick set in Northern Ireland involving shroom […]

“Your wife has a lovely neck.”

I said I’d have an update prepared for October, didn’t I? I’m really sorry I haven’t anything to show. I am working on a couple of things, but I haven’t really had the motivation to do as much work on them as I’d like to, partly because my attempts at improving my web design skills […]

“[…] classic sci-fi that will delight fans with its painstaking recreation of an alien world […]”

Lost and found? Yes, I’d like to know what happened to my weekend. October’s halfway over and nobody even told me? I am very unhappy with this, you guys! Mind you, I’m totally to blame. I’ve been trying to find a means of updating the Games I Own section so it’ll be easier to manage […]

“Look, girls! It’s our boy with no pants!”

What horrible events have prevented me from updating the blog in a whole week? Not much. I’ve just been a bit of vegetable, really. You’ve heard it a dozen times – I want to be productive, but being a lazy bastard is just that much more appealing. Didn’t I say I was going to have […]

Liam Neeson as the man with no skin

Watched Darkman. Scientist tries to create artificial skin, but it can last only one hundred minutes in daylight before it melts. He’s then blown up because of mobster activity (in the first of several possibly unintentionally hilarious moments – you could add the Goofy scream and you’d hardly tell it was a dramatic moment!) and […]

Saurod, we hardly knew ye

Was it really just eleven years ago that people thought the Dancing Baby was hip and fresh? Ah, shareware CDs. My personal gateway into knowing what was popular a decade ago. This originated from PC Format magazine, issue 92 (February 1999!), and I had really high hopes for it. It had demos for Rogue Squadron […]
