Resident Evil/Biohazard (Game Boy Colour)
Written by Galvatron.
Capcom decided to port over the original Resident Evil game in 1999 for the lowly Game
Boy Color, for some reason. Surprisingly, the first screens shown didn't look that bad and it looked like Capcom may have managed to pull what seemed to be a impossible conversion off after all, but then it went and got itself cancelled. Eventually, Capcom produced the apparently shitty
Resident Evil Gaiden on the GBC instead, complete with
evil Leon.
Title screen (another)
Character select
Obviously, there wouldn't have been any character speech. So instead, text was to be used to show what characters were saying, as you can see here. No-one knows how they would have done the cut-scenes with the actors and stuff, but most people guess picture stills with text or text alone.
The door opening sequences were still kept in this GBC version.
Inventory screen. Now, from what I can tell, the guns in the inventory don't appear to have any numbers by them, so it's possible that the guns were just suppose to have infinite ammo. Of course, it could have just been that Capcom hadn't implemented the ammo into that version of the game yet. Also, the big green square thing doesn't appear to display anything in this version of the game. In other versions, it displays the item you want to examine. The shotgun's icon appears to be entirely red.
The dining hall is missing the large table and all the chairs which surround it in the GBC version.
The zombies don't appear to have had all of their animations finished. In the one video of this available so far, at one point Chris blasts a zombie with his shotgun several times, and it drops to it's knees...but does not lie down dead. It just stays on it's knees frozen.
This is the area where you find your first zombie. However, where's Kenneth's body? For those of you that don't know, Kenneth is one of the STARS team members who ends up getting killed here, and his body is left on the floor in this area in the other versions. Not here though.
This appears to be the room where the tiger statue usually is, but as you can see it simply isn't there in this version. Maybe they planned to add it later, but if they didn't, I wonder how you would have used the gems?
I really wish my RE knowledge was up to scratch but I can't remember where this room is (haven't played the original in a long time). It at least shows that even character's "waiting" animations (keep Chris or Jill still for a few seconds) were kept in this version. A lot of people have lol'd that Chris has found a giant blue version of the world cup here.
There's usually a map hidden at the top of that statue. It's missing here, although Chris may have taken it already. If he had though, surely there be some steps he would have had to push to the statue to get at the map in the first place, like in the other versions.
Hallway above a save room, seems to be completely devoid of any enemies.
This is another save room, and it has zombie in it. In all the other versions, you NEVER get enemies in save rooms. The medicine rack to the left seems to be devoid of items.
Apparently, you would be able to save anywhere in this version. I find it a little odd how they left the typewriters in the game though (see to the left of the image above) since you usually use these to save.
Here are some more general screen shots of the game:
Jill, shooting a zombie.
All together now, 1 2 3... IT'S BEHIND YOU!
In the corridor where the first zombie in the game is.
Unlike all the other zombies, this one has red clothes, the rest have green. Zombies appear to be the only enemies Capcom had done for these early screens.
The room with the moose head.
lol toilet lol
The mansion's stairs in the main hall.
These stairs lead down to a save room and a corridor.
Chris during his waiting animation.
OTHER NOTES:
Usually in Resident Evil games, there's a half second load time between screens when the camera angle changes. In this version, the screen blanks out when the camera needs to change, then the new angle will appear.
Sadly this version was cancelled very early on, so nobody knows is Barry, Rebecca and the other lesser STARS members would have featured in the game at all. Wesker was seen however, at least.
In the one video available, some of the rooms seem to have been changed layout wise, and certain doors go to other places than they do in other versions of the game.

This is the only video anyone has ever seen, and so far the only one ever released at all.
